This is a known SEO-spoofing tactic — hijacking dormant .edu subdomains to borrow their search authority — and it has been used here to spread duplicated content on both sides of this claim, including copies that debunk it. It's a useful reminder that a professional-looking layout or an authoritative-sounding domain is not itself evidence of anything.

What NIH and FDA actually say

The National Institutes of Health's guidance on sodium bicarbonate identifies no scientific evidence that it reduces body fat or produces weight loss.
